About Tracy Grammer
Tracy Grammer, MS, CCC-SLP, ASHA FELLOW is a speech language pathologist with nearly 30 years of experience working with adults experiencing a variety of cognitive-communication disorders to include cognitive dysfunction, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphasia and apraxia secondary to cerebral vascular accident, traumatic brain injury, glossectomy, laryngectomy, tracheostomy and ventilator dependency.
She works at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center as a speech-language pathologist for the trauma and ear, nose and throat teams.
She is a faculty member of the OU College of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology and OU College of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She currently serves as the Chair of Oklahoma Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology after having served two consecutive terms from 2009 – 2015; sitting four of those years as Chair.
Ms. Grammer serves on the ASHA Board of Ethics. She served as the 2015 - 2018 Oklahoma SLP Advisory Councilor to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Board member of the National Council of State Boards for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Ms. Grammer served five years as the president of the Brain Injury Association of Oklahoma and as the 2005 – 2008 Oklahoma Legislative Councilor to the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Ms. Grammer is a past president of the Oklahoma Academy of Medical Speech Language Pathologists and a two-time past president of the Oklahoma Speech Language Hearing Association. She is the Director and founder of Camp Sunrise, an outdoor retreat for adult survivors of traumatic brain injury, which began in 2000.
Ms. Grammer was awarded Fellowship of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 2014. Honors also include the 2017 Ladies Leaving a Legacy Award from the Oklahoma Hospitality Club, the 2015 Ignite Award from OU Medicine, the 2014 OU Medicine Fire Starter Award, the 2012 OU Medical Trauma Angel Award, the 2010 Honors of the Association for the Oklahoma Speech Language Hearing Association, the 2008 Outstanding Service Award from the OU Health Sciences Center Otorhinolaryngology Department, the 2005 and 2007 HCA Frist Humanitarian Awards, the 2001 Gwen Casey Award for Outstanding Clinical Service by the Oklahoma Speech Language Hearing Association, and the 1997 Clinician of the Year for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. She was also selected as an Oklahoma City “Hot Mama” in 2011 by Slice Magazine for her philanthropic work.
Ms. Grammer is an invited lecturer on topics to include dysphagia, ethics, leadership, traumatic brain injury, cognition, and SLP services in tracheostomy and ventilator dependency. She holds a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Oklahoma University.
