About Mohammad Madhoun

Dr. Mohammad Madhoun completed his medical degree at the Jordan University of Sciences and Technology in 2003, followed by the completion of an internship at the Princess Basma Hospital in Irbid, Jordan and a transitional residency year at the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan. In 2005, he came to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to complete a residency program in Internal Medicine before applying for a fellowship position in the Digestive Diseases and Nutrition Section of Internal Medicine on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus.

In July 2011, Dr. Mohammad Madhoun was presented the Richard F. Harty, M.D. Gastroenterology Fellow Award for Outstanding Fellow in Gastroenterology upon his completion of the GI Fellowship program in Digestive Diseases and Nutrition here at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Madhoun added to his training by earning a Master of Science in Clinical Translational Sciences during his fellowship.

Dr. Madhoun is the local Site Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program while also serving as the Director of Endoscopy at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Madhoun has a passion for teaching and has served as the Associate Director of the Gastroenterology / Hepatology Course for 1st-year medical students at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center since 2014. He has been rewarded for his teaching efforts by being inducted into the Academy of Teaching Scholars in 2016 and in 2017 he was selected by his students to be presented with the prestigious Aesculapian Award for excellence in teaching.

Dr. Madhoun served as a Member of the Institutional Review Board for the College of Medicine, University of Oklahoma from 2012-2016, Vice Chair from 2016-2018, and in 2018 he took over as Chair. Further for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program, he serves as a highly valued member of the Program Evaluation and the Clinical Competency Committees as well as an active member of four committees at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center; the Operative and Invasive Committee, the Research and Development Committee, the Cancer Committee, and the Medical Record Committee. On the national level, he has served as an active member of the ASGE Research Committee for two periods, 2012-2015, and 2017 to present. He is an editorial board member for The World Journal of Gastroenterology and Pancreatic Disorders & Therapy. He has three active grants and one clinical trial that he services as PI or CO-PI or Site Director.

    Everyone I met in the GI lab were amazing. I wish I could remember all the nurses names every one put me at ease. The team that handled my procedure were all so awesome. Dr Dave the anesthesiologist has such an amazing bedside manner, wish he was my friend. OU Health Systems has always taken such good care of me I am thankful and trust them completely for my care.

    The care was excellent, the staff was very friendly, very attentive, very clear to my husband that he was treated, but I was with him, because he does not speak English, but the doctor is also a translator to help him and the care was excellent, we are very grateful. .
