About Catherine Hunter

Catherine J. Hunter, M.D., is the Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery and Program Director. Dr. Hunter also holds the Children’s Hospital Foundation Paula Milburn Miller Chair in Pediatric Surgery.

She graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York and completed her General Surgery Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California; followed by a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship and Research Fellowship at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Hunter is nationally recognized as an authority on the care of necrotizing entercolitis, has more than 70 publications, and is funded by the National Institutes of Health. She is board certified in both general surgery and pediatric surgery, specializing in chest wall deformities in children. Additional specialties include surgical oncology and pediatric trauma Surgery.

Prior to coming to Oklahoma, Dr. Hunter served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, IL.

    Dr. Hunter was very informative and kind. She mentioned that she was happy that we came in when we did because parents don't come in until sometimes it's too late. which brings me back to the referral and scheduling process being way too delayed.

    Dr. Hunter was outstanding, she answered all my questions and was very pleasant to deal with. Showed great concern for my son.

    We choose to drive from another state due to the skilled quality of this Doctor along with the connection my child has with the Doctor that makes a quality and trusted relationship with a very anxious child due to the medical problems. That's how good the experiences are.
