A new clinic for memory care is now open at OU Health in Oklahoma City for patients with cognitive and memory concerns, including Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
Working in collaboration with a patient’s primary care provider, OU Health’s Memory Care Clinic provides consultative and longitudinal care for patients with cognitive concerns.
Lee Jennings, M.D., OU Health geriatrician and section chief of Geriatric Medicine for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine said, “Our clinic is here to help people with cognitive concerns and their families get the help they need — that includes helping patients get a diagnosis as well as helping patients and families understand what to expect next and guiding them to resources for help. A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia can be hard to face and our program is designed to support patients and families though that journey.”
The Alzheimer’s Association has reported that in Oklahoma, 67,000 people over 65 are living with Alzheimer’s and 14% of people over 45 have subjective cognitive decline.
OU Health’s Memory Care Clinic offers consultations to patients who may benefit from assistance in the following areas:
- Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, especially with behavioral symptoms or safety concerns.
- Caregiver strain or questions about dementia.
- Depression/mood disorders impacting daily activities.
- Difficulty with daily activities due to problems with cognition.
- Driving concerns.
- Memory/cognitive concerns or abnormal cognitive screen needing further evaluation.
- Polypharmacy or high-risk medication use that may worsen cognition.

The Memory Care Clinic team includes geriatricians with expertise in cognitive evaluation, specialty-trained advanced practice providers, social workers, pharmacy and neuropsychology support. The team also collaborates with OU Health team members from neurology and psychiatry to offer a wide range of support to patients with memory disorders and associated issues.
