OU Health, Oklahoma’s only integrated, comprehensive academic health system, has named Jennifer Schultz, MBA, as its inaugural chief marketing and growth officer. Schultz, who has been with OU Health since 2018, previously served as senior vice president of marketing and external relations.
In this expanded role, Schultz will lead state, regional and national growth and marketing strategies to help advance the health care enterprise’s tripartite mission of education, research and clinical care. She will continue to oversee marketing and communications, including marketing and growth strategies for community health, market research, external and internal communications, community partnerships, health professional relations, provider referrals, digital media and branding.
“Jennifer is a nationally respected thought leader in growth, organizational development and marketing strategy,” said OU Health President and CEO Richard Lofgren, M.D., MPH. “She understands our regional market and has a strong lens into the national health care landscape and what it will take to truly transform health care in Oklahoma. Expanding her scope of responsibility is warranted by the results she has delivered over the past five years at OU Health. I am honored to have her as a key member of our executive leadership team.”
Since arriving at OU Health, Schultz has served on the senior leadership team during a time of transformation. Schultz was a key leader during the historic July 2021 merger that combined the OU College of Medicine faculty practice with OU Medicine, Inc., to create OU Health – the state’s first fully integrated academic health system. In addition, she led the market research, development, and creation of OU Health’s brand identity, including the launch of a patient-centric web presence. Schultz and her team work closely with OU Health’s referral network and foster strategic relationships for clinical programming across community partners, rural and regional hospitals, tribal health partners and the business community.
Schultz has spent 18 years in the health care industry in marketing, communications, and business development roles. She holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and public relations from Southwest Minnesota State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
“I am honored to serve OU Health in this expanded role,” Schultz said. “As the academic referral center for Oklahoma, we are uniquely poised to address critical health needs in our state and to play a significant leadership role in improving health outcomes. Growth at OU Health is a byproduct of serving our fellow Oklahomans through delivering high quality, life-changing health care.”
