When Shawnee resident, Austin, was six years old, she was hospitalized at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital for four days. Her father, Shawn, said it was a very scary time, but the experience left a profound impact on the family - particularly Austin.
So when Austin was 10, now 14, she inspired her dad to join her by “doing something good for kids” at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Thanks to Austin, her dad, Shawn, and his team at Waste Connections have rallied together over the past few years. This dedicated group of philanthropists organized golf tournaments, bowling and toy drives, and has raised more than $100,000 to date. Shawn says the family can't say enough about how well they were treated during that time, and these gifts are their way to express their thanks.
We celebrate Austin as one of our first Kids Club members for this extraordinary show of generosity and further proof that little people can inspire big things.
Thank you, Austin!
